Dong Xiaolin Attends 17th Sino-Korean Local Government Exchange Symposium

The 17th Sino-Korean Local Government Exchange Symposium themed on "Strengthen exchanges between China and ROK and deepen local cooperation" opened on April 19 in Changchun City, Jilin Province. The event was jointly hosted by the ROK Embassy in China, the Governors Association of ROK, the Changchun Municipal People's Government and the Jilin Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, co-sponsored by the Department of Foreign Affairs Management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, and organized by the Changchun Municipal Foreign Affairs Office. A total of over 400 representatives from local governments across China and their counterparts from ROK attended this symposium. Chen Li, director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, addressed the opening ceremony, and Dong Xiaolin, Party secretary and Director General of the Shanxi Provincial Foreign Affairs Office delivered a speech at the symposium.

Dong Xiaolin said in his speech that China and ROK are adjacent to each other and have similar cultures and a friendly relationship. In recent years, the government of Shanxi Province attached great importance to the friendly exchanges and practical cooperation with ROK and successfully held a series of exchange activities, which achieved fruitful results. Mr Dong said that the Shanxi provincial government hopes to take this event as a starting point to deepen exchanges, work hand in hand and achieve win-win cooperation with its counterparts across ROK and China. He expected more ROK friends to take a close look at Shanxi, where they can invest and start businesses. He hopes the two peoples can join hands to share new opportunities in Shanxi's economic transformation and development and create a future of win-win cooperation.

Officials from prefecture-level foreign affairs offices in Shanxi also participated in the symposium.
