Jishan County Shell Inlay Lacquerware Research Center

The Jishan County Shell Inlay Lacquerware Research Center specializes in the preservation and development of Shell Inlay Lacquerware, which is one of over 20 important lacquer crafts in China. Due to the natural materials and complexity of the technique, this traditional craft has unique cultural, historical, and artistic characteristics. In 2014, it was recognized as a national-level intangible cultural heritage. The center is the national-level inheritor of Jishan Shell Inlay Lacquerware and was founded by Li Aizhen, a national-level inheritor of intangible cultural heritage and a Chinese master of arts in industrial arts.
